Step one is particularly familiar ground. The first move was to take out the reef segment of the bottom-left corner. For the stuff to actually be able to sit on something... it needs something to sit on. A scientifically proven fact, might I add...
As a reef is much more of a mini-cliff than a boulder, it seemed a good idea to stretch it out to create more of a 'platform'. Simple editable poly stuff.
Now here is where the lovely saying "Work smarter, not harder" rears its not-so-ugly head. If I really wanted to... I could pull out and edit the entire rock. However, seen as we're only going to see a corner of it... perhaps it would be wiser to edit the segment that we'll actually see? Yeah, I think so too.
And there it is... a rock. What do you mean 'so what?' It's a rock, what did you expect? A unicorn?
